ONLINE TICKET SALES HAVE ENDED. THANK YOU.

ONLINE TICKET SALES HAVE ENDED. A LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR.

Join Micah Uetricht, associate editor at Jacobin, for a conversation with Alderman Carlos Rosa following the Opening Reception of the DSA 2017 Convention.

Carlos Ramirez-Rosa is many things on Chicago's city council: the youngest council member at 28, the first openly gay Latino council member, a principled and constant critic of Mayor Rahm Emanuel. He's also the council's only self-identified socialist and a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Carlos is a local elected official tasked with filling potholes and keeping gutters clean in Chicago's 35th ward. But he has also made fighting deportations, expanding affordable housing, and hitting the picket line in support of union workers a top priority. Come hear him talk about his experience in office and his vision for how to fight neoliberalism, why he's a socialist, and how to transform society.

One year from now, Carlos will be up for re-election and will likely face an onslaught from Mayor 1% and the Mayor's rich donors. Contribute to Carlos' re-election effort by purchasing a ticket below.

Tickets are $20, drinks are included. The U.E. Hall is a 15 minute walk from UIC.
