Dear Neighbor:

Serving as our Alderman has been the greatest privilege of my life, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to continue representing you and our neighborhoods of Albany Park, Avondale, Hermosa, Irving Park, and Logan Square on the City Council.

On February 26, despite being outspent more than two to one, we received nearly 60% of the vote for inclusive, and transparent local decision making, and outspoken progressive leadership on the Council.

While I am humbled to have won reelection by a wide margin, I also know that this past election was one of the most contentious in the history of our ward, with a dozen campaign mailers misinforming our community about my record. These mailings motivated my campaign to launch www.factsfor35.org to ensure voters could make informed decisions based upon factual information.

While that misinformation campaign may have swayed some to support my opponent, I know that some chose not to support me because they felt I was unresponsive to their concerns or inaccessible. Every day I strive to be the best Alderman I can be, and I want the residents of the ward to know that I am listening, and I am learning.

As our Alderman, I will continue to work to ensure every resident is heard, and every local issue is resolved as efficiently as possible. That is why in my second term, as in my first, I will continue to host mobile office hours throughout the 35th Ward. Our Walk Your Block events are an opportunity to discuss local issues on your block. I’m proud to have done Walk Your Block events in every neighborhood of our ward with as little as one person or as many as two dozen.
