United Neighbors of the 35th Ward

United Neighbors of the 35th Ward (UN35) is a neighbor-led independent political organization working to ensure local families are engaged in government decision-making, and that our local elected officials are accountable to our neighborhoods, not powerful special interests.

Founded on May 9, 2015 by volunteers and community leaders who had worked on the campaigns of Carlos Ramirez-Rosa for 35th Ward Alderman and Jesus 'Chuy' Garcia for Mayor, UN35 spent the summer of 2015 creating a vision our community that came from the residents of our community.

UN35 engaged folks in the community in four visioning forums around a few key issue areas: Education, Public Safety, Budget/TIFs, and Community Driven Development. Throughout the summer, UN35 engaged over 150 different people in these forums, knocked over 1,800 doors and talked to over 200 people! The visioning forums were a vehicle through which UN35 could craft a positive vision to work towards, rather than be reactive to negative things happening in the ward and surrounding neighborhoods.
