ABOUT LOCAL SCHOOL COUNCILS

A LOCAL SCHOOL COUNCIL (LSC) IS THE BEST WAY PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAN IMPROVE THEIR SCHOOL.

Created by the Chicago School Reform
Act of 1988, LSCs give parents,
community members, and teachers
a voice in their neighborhood school.

LSCs hire the principal, distribute funds
and create a School Improvement Plan
for Advancing Academic Achievement.

Every two years we - the school's
neighbors - elect two Community representatives.
